Ricardo J. Bermúdez D. estudió arquitectura en la Universidad Nacional de Panamá y se graduó con honores en 1975,. Luego obtuvo una maestría en arquitectura de la Universidad de Pennsylvania en 1978, siendo el segundo Panameño en obtener ese grado en esa Universidad.

Desde 1971 trabajó en el taller de arquitectura De Roux, Bermúdez,  Brenes. En 1975 se fusiona con su padre para formar la firma Bermúdez Asociados, que luego se denominó Bermúdez, Soriano, Orfila, Arquitectos. Fue socio de la firma Clement & Medina. Al presente es principal en la firma Ricardo J. Bermudez Arquitecto en la Ciudad de Panamá.

Es miembro de las siguientes instituciones nacionales e internacionales:

  • Sociedad Panameña de Ingenieros y Arquitectos (SPIA), registrado ante la Junta Técnica de Ingeniería y Arquitectura y asesor de varias comisiones dentro de la Cámara Panameña de la Construcción (CAPAC) 
  • Mario Romañach Fellowship de la Universidad de Pennsylvania.
  • La Asociación Panameña de Ejecutivos de Empresa.
  • Sociedad Bioética de Panamá.
  • Club Rotario de Panamá.
  • Arquitecto regional para América Latina y el Caribe de la casa automotriz Porsche.
